Funckenhausen Syrah Nouveau is crafted from estate-grown vineyards in 25 de Mayo, San Rafael, Mendoza, located at 850 meters (2,789 feet) above sea level. The region's semi-desert climate, abundant sunshine, cool nights, and constant mountain winds create ideal conditions for growing expressive, high-quality fruit. The Syrah vines are grown in sandy loam soils with boulders and caliche and are drip irrigated with snowmelt from the Andes via the Diamante River.

Careful vineyard practices and harvesting at optimal ripeness allow the wine to reflect the distinctive character of the region. At the winery, only the highest-quality fruit is selected, with leaves and imperfect clusters removed by hand before destemming and crushing. A three-day cold maceration at 8°C encourages the extraction of delicate aromatics before fermentation in stainless steel at cool, controlled temperatures.

After approximately 20 days of maceration, the wine undergoes partial malolactic fermentation, followed by cold clarification and light filtration to preserve its vibrant freshness. Inspired by the youthful style of Beaujolais, this modern summer red is juicy and approachable.
